PETITION #15 – April 10th to April 16th
Most Merciful Jesus, we ask that You grant us the gift of Prayer and the grace to persevere in our prayer-life. In Your mercy, help us to pray from the depths of a humble and contrite heart, for humility is the foundation of all prayer. It is only when “we humbly acknowledge that we really do not know how to pray as we should, that we are ready to receive the gift of prayer.” ccc
Help us to persevere in prayer by arming ourselves with patience; help us also to cope bravely with the interior difficulties we face in our prayer life: discouragement, dryness, heaviness of spirit and temptations, as well as the exterior difficulties; human respect and time – one must observe the time set apart for prayer. (St. Faustina)
Oh most Merciful Heart of Jesus, help us always to remember that without prayer, our souls cannot ascend to You, and we cannot hope to attain the glory of heaven. “Those who pray are certainly saved; those who do not pray are certainly damned.” (St. Alphonsus Liguori)
During this Chaplet, we also bring to the throne of Your unfathomable Mercy our own needs, desires and intentions, as well as those of our fellow Marathon members.
Jesus, I trust in You.
“The reason, the will, the heart
– these three faculties must be exercised during prayer.
(St. Faustina)
